Sorting Tray

I got this from my local carboot sale last Sunday for £1.  I think it was originally some sort of display case, but thought it would be perfect as a sorting tray with all those little compartments.  I put it out for the children this week, alongside the giant tweezers (I found these on Amazon) and various small resources.  The younger children moved the objects around within the compartments, whilst the older children were keen to master the tweezers, their concentration evident in their facial expressions.  This little girl experimented with using two pairs of tweezers.
I also put out a cardboard version of the sorting tray, but the children overwhelmingly preferred the wooden one.
I plan to put this out again next week but will try using natural resources

PSRN: Numbers as Labels and for Counting (if numbers are involved in play)
PSRN: Calculating (where younger children are arranging or classifying with intent)
PD: Using Equipment & Materials ( where younger children are putting the resources in and out of the tray and older children are using the tweezers to move the objects around / can use the tweezers with increasing control)
